MachNation attended RE•WORK Connected Home Summit in Boston. The event was also co-located with the RE•WORK Deep Learning Summit.
The event featured a great line up of speakers from Amazon, iRobot, Jibo and Senter and many others.
It was particularly interesting to hear Chris Jones of iRobot talk about orchestration. While MachNation is generally focused on IoT in the enterprise and looks at orchestration in that context, Chris is absolutely right in that IoT orchestration is also really important in the home. The IoT home, much like a connected industrial environment is going to have technology and solutions from many different vendors. And, in both places, these technologies must work together to fully realize the value of IoT. In the home scenario, this means not needing dozens upon dozens of apps, and numerous IFTTT-type services to make things work as they should. This type of smart home concept may work for early adopters, but it’s insufficiently mature for the general public. In the enterprise scenario, IoT orchestration means that device, data and business processes can be integrated and automated without a superfluous amount of engineering and professional services.
The RE•WORK Connected Home Summit was very well-organized, informative and had a great set of speakers sharing unique insights about the connected home ecosystem.
