Executive summary (Publicly available):
Full report (Client-only access): 2019 IoT Edge ScoreCard
Edge platforms are beginning to play a vital role in the Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem.
Businesses deploying IoT solutions recognize that many optimally designed IoT solutions,
especially those in the industrial vertical, take advantage of one or multiple edge components.
In fact, MachNation research suggests that most IoT solutions in verticals such as manufacturing, commercial transportation, building automation, and logistics will be required to leverage edge computing in order to meet business and operational requirements.
For the second year, MachNation has published its IoT Edge ScoreCard to aid enterprise, systems integrators, and service providers in their research processes and to provide guidelines for the most important edge characteristics. We have conducted these analyses due to the great diversity in the quality of edge platforms and the technological heritage of the various platform vendors.
Note: enterprises requiring detailed analyses of IoT platforms based on hands-on tests of IoT platform capabilities and usability should see MachNation’s IoT platform test lab called MIT-E.
MachNation’s 2019 IoT Edge ScoreCard includes the following vendors (listed alphabetically): ADLINK, Amazon, Bosch, ClearBlade, Crosser, Eurotech, FogHorn Systems, Interactor, Litmus Automation, Microsoft, Nymea, Rigado, Siemens, Software AG, SWIM, Telit, and Wicastr.
