Executive summary (Publicly available):

Full report (Client-only access): 2022 IoT Edge ScoreCard

Edge platforms continue to play a vital role in the IoT ecosystem. This year’s ScoreCard highlights the importance of understanding vendors’ technical capabilities to supply thin-edge and thick-edge solutions. Enterprises’ IoT use cases are extremely varied and rely oftentimes on hybrid architectures to meet the needs of their business units. Most IIoT platforms can not credibly offer both thin- and thick-edge solutions, so it is critically important for enterprises to carefully select IoT platform vendors that can meet their particular edge-based requirements.

For the fifth year, MachNation has published its IoT Edge ScoreCard to aid enterprise, system integrator (SI), and service provider (SP) buyers in their research processes and to provide guidelines for the most important edge characteristics. We have conducted these analyses due to the great diversity in the quality of edge platforms and the technological heritage of the various platform vendors.

MachNation’s 2022 IoT Edge ScoreCard includes the following vendors (listed alphabetically): ADLINK, Amazon, Eurotech, HPE, IoT.nxt, Losant, Microsoft, Pelion, Siemens, Software AG, ThingsBoard, and ZEDEDA.

MachNation will continue helping our clients test and compare:
